Different races in UFO:Afterlight has different senses. Not only do they work differently, the sights even give you different looks in the tactical game.

The senses' range and angle will be affected by skills and race.

Note that psionic is invisible, and is the only actions that cannot be discovered by sight.

Hearing[]

Hearing is used by most organic races. Hearing range at night is bigger then hearing range at day.

Note that laser, plasma, and psionic are quiet, meaning that they cannot be pinpointed by hearing.

Psionic[]

Reticulans can sense psionic in the world.

It has a medium range but works equally well day and night, and can sense through walls. By its nature it is not sensitive to most weapons - except for psionic actions.

In addition to reticulans, high level beastman can hide their psi presence, and human can do the same through the Charisma skill.

Advanced equipments gives human night vision, allowing them to see in night as well as in day.

It works very similarly with normal vision, having mostly same strength and weakness, except that it is totally unusable in day.

Electromagnetic Vision[]

Electromagnetic is normal sight in the sense that it cannot pass through walls.

Martian pets and natural elements also use EM vision. At the same time, only they and Martians are good at hiding from this vision. The beastmen use plastic equipments.
